How do you like your lemons?
These are all great ways to use fresh lemons–when you have just a few. This time of year, lemon trees are bursting with fruit. If you are lucky enough to have a tree– or a friend that has a tree — you can have access to lots of lemons. How can you preserve their yummy lemon goodness so they don’t go to waste?
After the juice has frozen, I plop the lemon juice cubes out of the trays and save them in a zip-lock bag in the freezer for future use anytime of year. When a recipe calls for fresh lemon juice, I either let a cube or two defrost naturally in a bowl on the sink. Or, if I am short on time, I zap a few lemon cubes in the microwave, letting them cool down before I add them to other ingredients.
What to do with all those lemon peels after you’ve juiced them?
Then buff with a dish towel. I prefer to use my Norwex dish towel for added confidence when cleaning up.
