Everyone needs a little self-improvement, right? That’s why I’ve set a personal challenge for the month of July to tweak here and there areas in my life that need some extra attention. Nothing radical mind you. Just little things I can do to bring more clarity, more joy, and more vitality to improve my daily routine.
Day 31: Celebrate Success
My Problem: I have been cruising along on auto pilot for a while. I had been taking a lot for granted and was slacking in some areas of my life. What I needed was a course-correction to redirect my path. Could I be brave enough? Would I be committed enough to achieve success?
My Goal: Spend the month of July challenging myself to explore ways for self-improvement.
My Plan: Measure my self-improvement success by using the Mid Life Guru as my platform. I challenged myself to write blog posts 5 days a week during the month of July (up from my regular twice weekly posts) and share the steps I was taking to improve my life. And guess what? I did it!!! I learned a lot along the way starting with, It is really hard to write daily. In order to succeed, I had to work at organizing my time better. It was hard!!! There were days I wanted to give up but I made a commitment so I stayed with it. Now that is success to celebrate!!
Success also included being honest about my journey. What five experiences stood out the most?
Most Disappointing: Day 1: Lose Weight Sensibly– Garcinia Cambogia did not work for me. The first week, I lost 3-1/2 pounds and I was pretty excited. The second week, my eating was sort of out of control and I missed a few pills, so I knew I wouldn’t have that great of results. Sure enough, I didn’t lose any more weight. I guess I should have been grateful that I didn’t gain any either. I resolved to be more conscientious for week 3. I took all the pills, added an additional system cleansing pill, made better food choices, and even included a daily dose of chia seeds since they are known to help with weight loss. Guess what? No change in weight again. Ugh, I stayed with it for week four. I kept on doing what I wa used to doing. And when I got on the scale at the end of week four? NO CHANGE. Any benefits? I drank more water because you have to drink a full glass of water with every pill. Bottom line: For me, there is no magic, easy way to lose weight. Since I generally eat well and exercise daily, I guess the only way I’m going to lose those remaining pesky 5 pounds is to cut carbs and desserts. Boo. Favorite Product: No doubt about it: Spanx!!! I love how I feel and how I look wearing these helpful undergarments. They are a keeper!! Most rewarding: Using technology and social media to solve my car mystery. Three weeks later, I practically have a new car. The rear hatch and bumper are flawless, Ford was very accommodating, and I saved hundreds of dollars. Best Image Booster: Spending 5 minutes each day doing those five little make-up tricks on those days I don’t need/want to apply my whole make-up routine. Most Interesting: Experiencing different forms of healing treatments using a holistic approach.
The sensible path to success: Recognize areas for improvement, set goals for change, and carry out a plan to change behavior. And never give up!!! Self-Improvement is a lifetime commitment. Each success is indeed a cause for celebration!!
