When I attended the 2015 IDEA World Fitness and Nutrition Expo, one of the first booths I visited was PureFit Premium Nutrition Bars. I was hungry and I was looking for something portable and nutritious that would fill me up and give me energy as I began my day long adventure walking the floor of the massive Los Angeles Convention Center. I got all that and more when I learned about these 18 grams of protein, Vegan, Kosher, Non-GMO, Non-Dairy, Gluten Free, All Natural nutrition bars.
The Founder and CEO of the company, Robb Dorf, noticed that I was trying a lot of his protein bars and started a conversation with me. The key points he wanted me to know (and that actually shaped my opinion about PureFit Premium Nutrition Bars) were that:
PureFit has been around for 14 years
No Artificial Sweeteners -They are made with natural sugar (beet sugar, agave)
No hydrogenated oils or trans fats
They have a long shelf life
They provide both quick and long term energy
That last fact was really important to me since I am always on the lookout for gluten free products ever since my husband developed his wheat allergy.
I’ve tried a lot of protein bars in the past. I have been mostly turned off by taste and “thickness”– both of which are affected by the high protein content. PureFit Premium Nutrition Bars were chewy but their consistency did not turn me off. Also, I have to admit, their taste was really yummy for a protein bar. The peanut butter protein bar varieties were my favorite (I love anything with peanut butter). The Berry Almond Crunch was my least favorite (fruit in a protein bar is just not appealing to me). My husband first tried the Chocolate Brownie protein bar and he did not care for it; he said it was too much of a “thick chocolate.” From that experience, he wasn’t all that keen on eating another one. I really wanted him to give it another try because, after all, it was his gluten free needs that spurred me on to the booth and these protein bars in the first place. Luckily, he finally relented. He ended up really liking the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip. But his favorite was, by far, Peanut Butter Toffee Crunch.
We’ve mostly used these protein bars as a meal replacement — especially when we are running out the door in the morning. However, when my husband has the afternoon munchies, I’ve steered him to eating one of these protein bars instead of chips or cookies. He appreciates this healthier choice alternative. And an added benefit has been how these protein bars have helped him fight off the afternoon sluggishness that usually hits him around 3:00 p.m.
I’m glad that the booth for PureFit Premium Nutrition Bars was one of my first stops at IDEA World Fitness. They kept me energized throughout the Expo and have been keeping my husband and I energized on the go ever since.
