For a limited time, everything is boysenberry at Knott’s Berry Farm’s Boysenberry Festival.
While I received parking, entrance and food tasting cards to experience Knott’s Berry Farm’s Boysenberry Festival, all opinions are my own.
Anyone can do a typical girl’s day out: go out to lunch and do some shopping. But how much more unique and fun to do a girl’s day out at the Boysenberry Festival at Knotts
Berry Farm in Buena Park, California!!
Knott’s Boysenberry Festival celebrates each Spring when in 1920, Walter and Cordelia Knott moved to the community of Buena Park, California to farm 20 acres of rented land which included harvesting, and selling the first boysenberry, a cross between a loganberry, red raspberry and blackberry, naming the new berry after its originator, Rudolph Boysen. Did you know that today, all the boysenberries in the world can trace their roots back to Knott’s Berry Farm?
This year’s annual event lasts 3 weeks and provides a great backdrop to catch up with friends for a girl’s day out. My best girl pal and I had a great time getting away from our daily life of work and family. We had a blast enjoying all the Boysenberry Festival had to offer including going on rides, watching shows, and of course, tasting all the yummy boysenberry inspired food created just for the special event.
During the Boysenberry Festival, guests can purchase Food Tasting and Wine Tasting cards to sample special boysenberry dishes created just for the Boysenberry Festival.
The portions were just the right size to try all the boysenberry treats offered. We both agreed: while everything offered was delicious, we especially liked the meatballs, chicken wings, and ravioli. We weren’t the only ones enjoying a girl’s day out at Knott’s Boysenberry Festival. When we first arrived at the park, we met Becky. With her pink, Boysenberry Festival t-shirt, it was easy to tell she had come for the event. The Boysenberry Festival had just been going on for 3 days, and Becky told us she had already come all 3 days!!! “I love boysenberries, “exclaimed, Becky. “They are not too sweet and not too tart either.” Becky came to the Boysenberry Festival last year for the first time and had so much fun, she decided to buy a Knott’s Berry Farm Season Pass. She usually comes with friends, but on that day, April 3rd – National Boysenberry Day—she came by herself (that’s still a girl’s day out!!) She said she was a fan of the pulled pork on a boysenberry bun and the corn-on-the-cob with boysenberry butter. She also told us not to miss the authentic melodrama with a boysenberry theme—which we didn’t!!
These three friends work together in Orange County, California and took the day off to come to the Boysenberry Festival to “take time to be together, hang out, and eat.” Sharon and Bambi came to the Boysenberry Festival from Northern California. They had come down to be on the television game show, The Price is Right and were delighted to find out that all the audience members received two ticket to Knott’s Berry Farm. Friends for 10 years, they were looking forward to eating all the boysenberry cuisine and they appreciated the family friendly atmosphere of the festival.
Looking for an extraordinary girl’s day out? Head on out to Knott’s Berry Farm and their Boysenberry Festival, running through April 23rd.
